My Conversations with ChatGPT
Machine Translation (MT) and translations generated by AI have brought about a paradigm shift in the translation industry. The output of MT will continue to improve, especially when associated with clients’ translation memories and human editing. Language Service Providers are adapting and are including MT in their processes, when MT is applicable. While linguists will continue to be essential in the process, their role will shift from that of translators to validators of content generated by MT. At Excel Translations, we wanted to know what AI thinks about all of this and decided to have an open conversation on the matter with ChatGPT. I will regularly publish a question and ChatGPT’s response, uncensored.
QUESTION 27:
Will machine translation accept documents in photoshop?
Chat GPT’s Response:
Machine translation typically works with text-based input rather than images. While machine translation systems are designed to process and translate textual content, they do not directly accept documents in Photoshop (PSD) format or any other image format.
To translate text using machine translation, you would need to extract the text from the Photoshop document and provide it as input to the translation system. There are various ways to extract text from an image, such as using optical character recognition (OCR) tools or manually typing the text.
Once you have the extracted text, you can input it into a machine translation system, which will generate the translated output. Several online platforms and APIs offer machine translation services that accept text input and provide translations in various languages.
It’s worth noting that the quality and accuracy of the translation can vary depending on the complexity of the content, the language pair, and the specific machine translation system used.
