Excel Translations understands that a lot of information may be similar across multiple manuals, web pages, publications, and project components, as well as from one release of a product to the next. It is estimated that during most new releases or revisions, 30% to 40% of the information can be taken from an existing localized version and applied to the new release.
To that effect, Excel Translations has made substantial investments in terminology database software and translation memory tools. These tools enable us to recover the text of an existing translation and to recycle it for future projects, without billing our customers for translating the same information twice. We are concerned about your present needs, while keeping in mind your future localization requirements.
Furthermore, these tools are used to build online glossaries, which are then used by all parties involved in the project. The glossaries help the linguists and the reviewers to maintain an infallible consistency of the terminology used from one product to another and from one release to the next. Excel Translations uses Trados©, an industry-standard translation memory and terminology management tool. (This is not machine translation.) Trados creates a language database of previously translated words and word segments. It can be very effective in the translation of high-volume documentation by increasing accuracy and consistency across multiple documents; frequently resulting in significant cost savings for our clients.
